You’re not imagining it — and now you can see it

Yesterday, I released my book, Behavioural Governance - the Human Dynamics Behind Boardroom Decision-Making.

It captures the patterns I’ve been seeing for years — across Boardrooms, leadership teams, and governance environments.

But what has become even clearer in recent weeks… is this:

People aren’t struggling with governance knowledge.

They’re struggling with what’s happening in the room.

Through workshops, conversations, and the quieter messages people share when the meeting ends, a consistent pattern is emerging.

You can feel when something isn’t quite right.

You notice misalignment early.

You adjust how you speak so it lands.

You carry more than your role should require.

Not because you lack capability.

Because governance isn’t just a system of frameworks.

It’s a behavioural system shaped by power, authority, and how people respond to both.

Most organisations believe their governance is working.

The policies are in place.

The structures are defined.

The reporting is there.

On paper, it looks sound.

But governance doesn’t operate on paper.

It operates in how it’s experienced — in real time, in the room.

In the moments where:

Something doesn’t feel quite right… but isn’t named

Challenge is softened or delayed

Decisions move forward… without full ownership

Tension sits just under the surface

Not because people don’t care.

And not because governance isn’t in place.

But because behaviour is shaping decision-making long before anything is formally documented.

And when that happens:

Risk gets softened

Thinking narrows

Execution becomes heavier than it should be

Outcomes are impacted

That’s the part most organisations don’t see clearly.

And almost never measure.

For the first time, I’ve built something to make that visible.

The Global Behavioural Governance Dynamics™ Assessment is a short, confidential assessment designed to surface how governance is actually being experienced in practice.

It doesn’t assess individuals.

It reveals patterns.

The ones people feel — but struggle to name.

When you complete it, you’ll receive immediate personal insight into your environment, along with practical considerations you can start working with straight away.

Your responses remain anonymous, and contribute to a broader global view of how governance is being experienced across organisations, with aggregated insights to be shared in July.

The book gives language to what’s happening.

The assessment shows you how it’s showing up for you.

If you’ve ever walked out of a meeting knowing something didn’t land the way it should have…

This will help you understand why.

You can access the assessment here: thegovernancecollective.com/globalassessment-283467

Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

And from there, you have a choice in how you respond.

Until next time,
